Healthy Owensboro Initiative
League members are promoting an exciting initiative! Healthy Owensboro is a project that includes feeding elementary-aged children through a "back-pack on the weekends" program, hosting Kids in the Kitchen events at the Museum of Science and History throughout the summer, hosting Kids in the Kitchen activities at community centers and events, and more!  You can help support this community initiative to build a healthier community by participating in the 5K held in September, annually. Jump Around Around the Park
Traditionally, more than 500 people the free community event in the spring at Moreland Park.  Participants receive a free healthy lunch and enjoyed many activities focused on living a healthy lifestyle and family fun.  The Kids in the Kitchen team joined in the fun with hosting a celebrity chef and a Kid's Iron Chef Challenge!  read more

Throughout the year JLO works with many community organizations and restaurants to provide a fun, educational, hands-on event called Kids in the Kitchen. This FREE event is a fun way to learn about healthy eating choices that can last a lifetime. KITK is one of the many "womanpower!" projects JLO does!. read more

Ladies Lunch and Learn

The Junior League of Owensboro was invited to attend the annual Ladies Lunch and Learn at Wright Implement for a morning of education and fun. Topics included equipment safety and a ride-n-drive session on the equipment.

On Saturday, April 26th,  Celebrity Chef George Stella returned to Owensboro for his Kids Chef Challenge at midday in the Museum of Science and History.  To volunteer for events like this or for more information, contact  Look for the ad in the Messege Inquirer and Owensboro Parent!  

 Rummage Sale is the first Saturday in November! The Sports Center is the place to be on the first Saturday of November from 7 am- 1 pm!  Admission is $1, proceeds benefit Healthy Owensboro Initiaves, and the layette drive.  If you have rummage donations or baby items for the League, please bring them by the Sports Center by noon on Friday.   

Final drop-off is scheduled for October 18th at Stor-it-all on Fairview Dr.

Kids in the Kitchen

The Junior League of Owensboro is proud to be collaborating with the Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History for four years providing an award winning program:  KIDS IN THE KITCHEN. Thanks to great community sponsors and volunteers, children and parents have participated in regular educational programming that is lots of fun!

What is Kids in the Kitchen?  Children of all ages can learn fun healthy tips about nutrition, exercise and what it means to stay healthy!  Delicious free foods, learn fun & easy food recipes, hands-on food preparation, games and many special guests - ALL FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! (Museum fee may apply)

Charity Ball was March 1st! How exciting to be one of the first events in the new Convention Center, on the rivers edge.  Many Leaguers remember the day of Charity Balls from long ago with exotic decorations, all-night parties at the hotel, and much more! More than 200 dashing guests enjoyed the event! Thank you, to all sponsors, table sponsors, guests, parents of the hosts and hostesses, and the business partners that helped with this phenomenal event!  We're already planning next year's event.  For input contact Katie Keller or Lori Scholl, 2015 Chair women.

The Junior League of Owensboro is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in a commitment to voluntarism.
