President’s Message

Formed in 1937, a group of women in Owensboro saw the need to provide support, guidance and leadership development opportunities to the women and families of our community. Today the Junior League of Owensboro preservers with a strong tradition of service to the community and is grounded by our mission: The Junior League of Owensboro is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

During 2007-2008 we will serve our community by volunteering our time, talents and treasure to CASA, Grandma’s Corner, Layette Supplies and Assembly, Kids in the Kitchen, and our Signature Project. Our Signature Project is a Reading Initiative that includes Imagination Library. Through these projects and programs we add value to our members in fulfillment of our mission. JLO is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. All of our programs and activities are supported by League membership dues, foundation and corporate grants and other revenue-producing efforts.
