Junior League of Owensboro members also support a variety of other community projects through “Done in a Day” events and short term funding grants. Done in a Day projects are planned for completion in just a few hours. While preparation takes time, the actual event should be accomplished with a few hours of actual volunteer time from League members.
The current Done in a Day events include:
- Kids in the Kitchen – This event, held every other month throughout the year, offers an opportunity for children and their families to learn about making nutritious food choices and maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
- Layette Community Drives and Assembly – Needed baby items are provided in “layettes” to area Mothers identified by the home visiting programs of the Green River District Health Department. A trained nurse goes into homes for parenting education and may use the layettes for the most needy of Mothers.
