Charged with a mission of improving our community through the effective action of trained women and a vision to challenge women to greatness through volunteering, compassion, friendship, and commitment to improving our community, Junior League of Owensboro members are active in a variety of local community projects.
Currently, League members operate a Reading Initiative that develops and improves Early Learning programs with an emphasis on literacy for children under the age of 5.
The Reading Initiative continues to develop, but current activities include:
- Financial, volunteer and administrative support for a local Imagination Library program that offers free monthly books for children (birth-age 5)
- Community programs explaining the importance and techniques of Early Learning for local families
- Fun family events encouraging reading
